Chongxiao Mao focuses on high-dimensional modeling of single-cell and transcriptomic data at the intersection of artificial intelligence and life sciences. His research explores scalable computational methods for analyzing ultra-large biological datasets.
His work has been accepted by the International Conference on Machine Learning (ICML), while additional studies have been accepted by the ACM Conference on Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, and Health Informatics (BCB). Another related manuscript is currently under review at Nature Communications.
Research Project
HT-Demux addresses one of the key challenges in large-scale single-cell sequencing: determining the sample origin of millions of individual cells. By introducing a unified probabilistic framework and global parameter-sharing strategy, the method significantly improves scalability and computational efficiency while reducing classification errors.
Looking ahead, Mao hopes to further integrate computational methods with disease mechanism studies, cell atlas construction, and precision medicine, ultimately becoming an interdisciplinary researcher capable of bridging biology and artificial intelligence.
