After Admission
Enrollment
1. The admission decision will be made based on a comprehensive evaluation. Applicants can check their application status in the application system.
2. Applicants need to pre-pay the tuition fees in the application system to confirm enrollment within two weeks after the admission is released.
3. The “Admission Notice” will be issued in July of each year.
4. Applicants are responsible for the integrity of their submission. Any inaccurate or fraudulent information provided may lead to disqualification at any stage of the application, admission, or study process.
Visa
Once you have received your admission offer and visa application documents from the university, please follow the steps below to apply for a Chinese student visa.
X1 Visa – For students planning to study in China for more than 180 days (long-term).
Step 1: Prepare Required Documents
· Valid passport (with at least six months of remaining validity and blank visa pages)
· Completed Visa Application Form (available online at the Chinese Visa Application Service Center)
· Recent passport-sized photo (white background)
· Admission letter from the university
· JW201 Form (for scholarship recipients) or JW202 Form (for other international students)
· Physical examination record (for X1 visa applicants)
· Original highest diploma and academic transcripts (if required)
Step 2: Submit Your Application
Apply in person or via an authorized agent at the Chinese Visa Application Service Center in your country of residence.
Some applicants may need to schedule an interview at the Chinese embassy or consulate.
Step 3: After Receiving Your Visa
Check that all information on the visa (name, passport number, validity period, etc.) is correct.
For X1 visa holders: You must apply for a Residence Permit at the local Entry-Exit Administration Bureau within 30 days of arrival in China.
Important Notes:
· Do not enter China before your visa start date.
· Keep all original documents safe during travel.

Housing
International students may choose between on-campus housing or private off-campus rentals.
1. On-Campus: SJTU International Residential Halls
Students interested in on-campus housing should follow the specific registration instructions provided in their official admission letter.
2. Off-Campus Housing
Students opting for off-campus apartments are responsible for obtaining a Registration Form of Temporary Residence from the local police station. This certificate is required for the processing of their student visa.
