Current undergraduate students at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (Year 1–Year 3).

· Future Energy

· Future Health Technologies

· Artificial Intelligence and Interdisciplinary AI Applications

3. Eligibility Criteria

Applicants are expected to meet the following criteria:

1. Possess strong moral integrity and academic integrity.

2. Demonstrate a strong interest in scientific research and innovation.

3. Meet the scholarship eligibility requirements of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

4. Possess strong academic performance and English communication abilities.

5. Rank within the top 50% of their cohort based on comprehensive academic evaluation. Exceptional candidates with outstanding research potential may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

4. Funding Support

Approved projects are eligible for financial support in two stages:

· RMB 4,000 upon project approval

· RMB 6,000 upon successful project completion

In addition, each approved project receives a research grant of RMB 10,000, jointly administered by the academic department and the faculty mentor.

The grant may be used to support research-related activities, including:

· Research materials and laboratory supplies

· Experimental testing and technical services

· Publication and patent application expenses

· Academic conferences and scholarly exchanges

 5. Application Process

The GIFT Future Scholars Program is offered twice a year, in the Spring and Fall semesters.

Research topics are first proposed by faculty mentors. Students may then submit applications at the beginning of each semester in response to the official call for proposals.

The selection process consists of:

1. Research topic selection and faculty-student matching

2. Proposal development under faculty guidance

3. Administrative review

4. Expert evaluation

5. Public announcement of selected projects

Successful applicants are formally admitted to the program and conduct research under faculty supervision.
