The Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Global Institute of Technology (GIFT) is aimed to build a world-class educational and research institute in China. A team of world-class professors serves as the key driving force for the development of the institute. Currently 100% GIFT faculty members are with doctor degreed of top universities and overseas backgrounds. Most faculty members are supported by national and municipal talent programs, gained academic experiences at world-class universities.

The institute is also staffed with a strong team of joint-appointed faculty from both institute and enterprises, providing students with interdisciplinary and diversified guidance.

The Faculty and Staff Development Fund will better support the development of institute faculty, help GIFT to attract and retain top level teachers, reward and support excellent faculty, meeting the missions of faculty excellence for education development. GIFT plans to recruit 150 tenure-track faculty members and 150 full-time researchers in the future. The institute will also prioritize the development of young professors in its future faculty development initiatives. The raised funds will be mainly used to support professors and young talents in their scientific research and diversified teaching activities, as well as to reward outstanding teachers who have made remarkable achievements in teaching and educating students.
