GIFT Signs MoU with Beko

On September 8, 2026, Can Dinçer, Chief Executive Officer of Beko, led a senior executive delegation to the Global Institute of Future Technology (GIFT) at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The delegation included Deputy CEO for Manufacturing and Technology Nihat Bayız, Deputy CEO for Procurement, Supply Chain and Digital Alp Karahasanoğlu, and senior executive representatives. Professor Weiliang Xia, Associate Dean of GIFT, chaired the meeting. Professor Hua Bao (Associate Dean), Haibo Han (Deputy Chairperson of the GIFT Council), Yinyue Li (Director of the Office of Academic Development and International Cooperation, SJTU Division of Research Management) and faculty representatives attended the signing ceremony.

On behalf of GIFT, Hua Bao welcomed the Beko delegation and outlined the institute's education mission, development progress, platforms and resources, and distinctive approach to university-industry collaboration. He noted that GIFT's core research focuses - future energy and future health - align closely with Beko's strategic priorities. He expressed the hope that the two sides will strengthen collaboration in smart households, sustainable technologies and advanced materials.

Can Dinçer presented an overview of Beko's development. He noted that as a global technology company committed to R&D, Beko has always regarded innovation and inclusiveness as key drivers of its growth. The MoU they have signed with GIFT is an important part of advancing Beko's global innovation approach and strengthening ties with China's technology ecosystem.

During the exchange session, the two sides held in-depth discussions on technological innovation, joint platform development, researcher and student engagement, and age-friendly home solutions. Building on the MoU, GIFT and Beko will seek to broaden and deepen their collaboration, jointly advancing the innovation and application of smart, green, and sustainable technologies.
