CAS Academician Huisheng Peng Delivers Keynote Speech at the 22nd GIFT Distinguished Lecture Series

On April 27, 2026, Huisheng Peng, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Professor of Fudan University, delivered an academic lecture titled “From Fiber Materials to Devices”. The lecture attracted over 100 faculty members and students, including Jun Ni, Dean of the Global Institute of Future Technology (GIFT), and Sun Jin, Executive Dean of GIFT. The event was hosted by Beibei Du, a doctoral student from the class of 2024.

In his opening remarks, Sun Jin extended a warm welcome and sincere gratitude to Professor Peng. He highlighted Professor Peng's long-term dedication in the cross-disciplinary field among chemistry, physics, energy and biomedical science, noting his breakthroughs and contributions to the field of fiber electronics and its industrial applications.

During the lecture, Professor Peng elaborated on the development of smart fiber devices and the latest research findings. He introduced their broad application prospects and future challenges in areas such as energy harvesting and storage, flexible displays, biosensing, medical technology, and information processing. Furthermore, he shared insights on translating fundamental research outcomes into industrial application and advancing new quality productive forces, encouraging students to stay passionate and persevering, pursue original breakthroughs and boost national development.

During the Q&A session, the audience engaged in lively discussions with Professor Peng on topics including the safety of wearable fiber batteries, the cultivation of research talents, and collaboration mechanisms with the World Laureates Forum.

At the end of the event, Dean Jun Ni presented a commemorative gift to Professor Peng on behalf of the college.
