Khalifa University Delegation Visits GIFT
On April 8, 2026, H.E. Professor Ebrahim Al-Hajri, President of Khalifa University (KU) in the UAE, visited the Global Institute of Future Technology, SJTU. The delegation included Professor Ashraf Al Najdawi, Vice President of KU, and Ms. Astrid Xu Xu, International Relations Specialist of KU. The delegation was received by Jun Ni, Dean of GIFT; Jingchuan Wang and Hua Bao, Associate Deans of GIFT, and faculty representative Zhongyong Wang. The visit centered on advancing collaboration in energy and health, the two major global challenges of the future. Both sides engaged in in-depth and constructive discussions.


Dean Jun Ni extended a warm welcome to the delegation and provided an overview of GIFT's educational vision, key achievements, platform support and faculty development. He emphasized the college's commitment to collaboration with the UAE and expressed hope for continued cooperation with KU to jointly tackle global challenges. He also extended a warm invitation to KU researchers to visit and collaborate with GIFT.

H.E. President Ebrahim Al-Hajri noted that KU's strategic priorities align closely with GIFT's educational focus on energy and health. He highlighted the strong synergy between the two institutions and expressed a strong interest in future collaboration, including student exchanges, joint talent cultivation, and co-established laboratories. He also encouraged more scholars and researchers to pursue academic exchanges in the UAE.

The delegation later toured the SJTU-CATL Industry-Education Integration Laboratory and the Laboratory of Renewable Energy Materials and Devices, SJTU. H.E. President Ebrahim Al-Hajri spoke highly of SJTU's research outcomes and students' achievements, and affirmed his commitment to facilitating cooperation and promoting efficient application of scientific and technological advances to address future challenges.
