GIFT boasts an exceptional faculty, with 100% of them with overseas background, 75% graduating from world-renowned universities (top 100 globally), and 82% receiving support from national or municipal talent programs. It maintains strong international influence, with 2 faculty selected as Clarivate Highly Cited Researchers. Additionally, its scholars hold 9 fellowships in prestigious international academic organizations such as the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Materials Research Society (MRS), and Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC).

Preferred Candidates

1.Passion for Research and Teaching: Educational background and research experience in top-tier universities, talent training, teaching experience, and at least three years of international research experience are preferred.

2.Scholarly Achievements: Novel scientific research has yielded important contributions, such as representative papers, patents, awards, etc.

3.Care for Future Industries: Familiar with the development of cutting-edge technologies in the related fields, with the ambition and ability to commercialize scientific and technological achievements into industry.

Academic Support

1.Leading Figures in the Institute: GIFT Academic Program Committee has assembled 8 chair professors and 11 distinguished professors from 11 different disciplines including mechanical, electrical, chemical, materials, energy, biology, medicine, pharmacy, etc. to encourage cross-disciplinary collaborations and combinations of interests. GIFT breaks away from the traditional KPIs, and supports the exploration of disruptive technologies that are future oriented.

2.Deep Integration of Industry and Academia: GIFT works closely with leading high-tech companies and medical institutions, like CATL, Siemens, Huawei, Longi, United Imaging, and Ruijin Hospital, aiming at recruiting researchers, training talents, building research bases, and sharing knowledge and resources. This collaboration enables the entire talent-scientific research-commercialization chains to be explored, and comprehensive support is provided to facilitate the technology transfer from angel rounds to IPOs. This, in turn, encourages faculty and students to apply their knowledge and wisdom to promote economic and social development through scientific adavancements.

3.First-class Research Platform: GIFT's new building, with 60,000 square meters in space, will become a landmark in the ‘Grand Neo Bay’ Global Innovation and Entrepreneurship Community. Each faculty member is provided with an independent office space and ample lab space, and young faculty members are given priority in recruiting PhD students. Besides, GIFT closely collaborates with the State Key Laboratories of various disciplines and public platforms, like the Instrumental Analysis Center, of the entire university to provide high-quality innovation space for faculty and students.

4.Fringe Benefits: GIFT provides abundant start-up funds, housing allowance, health insurance (including family members), and other generous benefits. We offer high-quality medical care relying on the advantages of SJTU's 12 3A hospitals, comfortable apartments, and children's enrollment resources. We provide a better salary and working environment than universities in the US to ensure that faculty members can concentrate on their academic work without worries.
