CAS Academician Lifeng Chi Delivers Keynote Speech at the 18th GIFT Distinguished Lecture Series
On November 4, 2025, Lifeng Chi, an academician at the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a professor at the Institute of Functional Nano & Soft Materials (FUNSOM) of Soochow University, delivered an insightful academic lecture titled "Molecular Science at Surfaces and Interfaces". The attendees included Jun Ni, Dean of GIFT; Tianshu Ge, Chairperson of GIFT Council; Sun Jin, Executive Dean and SJTU faculty and students. The event was hosted by Yuxin Tu, a master's student from the class of 2025.

Tianshu Ge extended a warm welcome and sincere gratitude to Professor Chi, highlighting her outstanding achievements and profound impact in molecular assembly and reactions at interfaces. She noted that Professor Chi's dedication and passion for academics sets an example for young scholars.

In her lecture, Professor Chi elucidated the development, fundamental principles, and technology progress in molecular science at surfaces and interfaces. She shared representative findings from her work on on-surface chemistry and offered insights into the future development of this field. Moreover, she encouraged students to maintain curiosity and passion for research, explore courageously and study diligently, and advance the frontiers of technology.

During the Q&A session, faculty and students engaged in a lively discussion with Professor Chi on topics such as free radical reactions, the Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) film, molecular assembly mechanism, and laboratory instruments development.

At the end of the event, Dean Jun Ni awarded Professor Chi a certificate of appreciation.
The 18th GIFT Distinguished Lecture Series broadened the academic horizons of faculty and students, reinforced their commitment to scientific research, and it motivated them to contribute to the innovation in cutting-edge future technologies.
