Ambassador of UAE to China Visits GIFT

On November 7, 2025, a delegation led by H.E. Hussain Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to the People's Republic of China, visited the Global Institute of Future Technology, SJTU. The delegation included H.E. Muhannad Al Naqbi, Consul General of UAE in Shanghai, and Mr. Mohamed Almansoori, Deputy Director of the Al Foah Research Institute. The delegation was received by Jun Ni, Dean of GIFT; Tianshu Ge, Chair of the GIFT Council; Haibo Han, Deputy Chair of the GIFT Council, and Hua Bao, Associate Dean. Representatives from the Graduate School and International Cooperation and Exchange of SJTU also attended the meeting.

Dean Jun Ni extended a warm welcome to H.E. Hussain Ibrahim Al Hammadi and his delegation. He provided a comprehensive overview of GIFT's educational mission, key achievements, platform support and faculty development.

In the collaboration discussion, both parties emphasized that the ever-deepening exchanges between SJTU and UAE institutions have laid a solid foundation for expanding future collaboration. GIFT highly values the exchanges with UAE and looks forward to further strengthening cooperation with UAE universities and research institutions to jointly address global challenges. They also discussed the possibility of establishing a research center for regularized cooperation to foster joint talent cultivation, academic exchanges, and research collaboration. Moving forward, efforts will be made to actively promote the interaction of young talents between the two countries, encouraging and supporting outstanding scholars and researchers in pursuing academic exchanges and further studies.

Both sides reached a broad consensus that under the guidance of the Belt and Road Initiative, the cooperation between China and UAE has been steadily advancing and deepening across various fields. Building on the strong bilateral relations, GIFT pledged to further facilitate collaboration in education and scientific research with UAE universities and research institutions, jointly starting a new chapter for the China-UAE community with a shared future in the new era.
