King's College London Delegation Visits GIFT

On November 3, 2025, a delegation led by Professor Sebastien Ourselin, Dean of the School of Biomedical Engineering & Imaging Sciences at King's College London and Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, visited the Global Institute of Future Technology, SJTU. The delegation included Hongbin Liu, Director of the Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIR) Hong Kong Institute of Science & Innovation, alongside Business Development Director Jun Xu and Clinical Translation Consultant, Weinong Wu. The delegation was received by Jun Ni , Dean of GIFT; Weiliang Xia and Hua Bao, Vice Deans.

Dean Jun Ni extended a warm welcome to the delegation and provided an in-depth overview of GIFT's educational mission, development and future vision. He highlighted the pioneering approaches in fostering interdisciplinary integration, advancing cutting-edge technological innovation, and exploring reforms in education models.

Professor Sebastien Ourselin introduced the history, disciplinary structures, and research departments of the School of Biomedical Engineering & Imaging Sciences, KCL. He detailed the school's significant research breakthroughs and technological achievements in forefront areas such as biomedical engineering and medical imaging.

Director Hongbin Liu outlined the establishment background, current progress, and strategic direction of the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics. He introduced the institute's key research focuses and core missions.

During the exchange session, GIFT professors Ruigang Yang, Tomonori Takeuchi, Hongyi Xin, and Minqiang Wang shared their research focuses respectively, including intelligent manufacturing, robot perception and control, and medical technologies. Both parties will further deepen collaborations in emerging areas such as robotics, intelligent healthcare and AI, aiming to jointly facilitate scientific research, technology translation and talent cultivation.
