Jun Gu, member of the Strategic and Management Consulting Committee of China National Nuclear Corporation, delivers keynote speech at the 16th GIFT Distinguished Lecture Series
On October 17, 2025, Jun Gu, member of the Strategic and Management Consulting Committee and former General Manager of China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), delivered a keynote speech titled "China's Nuclear Industry: Overview and Future Outlook". The attendees included Lifeng Xi, Executive Vice President of SJTU; Xiaojing Liu, Vice Dean of the College of Smart Energy; Lei Zhu, Vice Dean of the School of Mechanical Engineering; Jun Ni, Dean of GIFT; Tianhu Ge, Chairperson of GIFT Council; Sun Jin, Executive Dean of GIFT; Haibo Han, Deputy Chairperson of GIFT and over 150 faculty, staff and students. The event was hosted by Jiayu Gu, an undergraduate student from the class of 2023.


Xi Lifeng extended a warm welcome and sincere gratitude to Jun Gu for his visit, highlighting his outstanding achievements. As a renowned nuclear engineer, Jun Gu has long been dedicated to the advancement of nuclear power industry. He is also a alumnus of SJTU's Nuclear Engineering & Nuclear Technology major. His profound dedication to the nation and relentless pursuit of innovation serve as an inspiring model for students.

In his report, Jun Gu explained the development history, technological development and future prospects of nuclear industry, as well as global nuclear energy development. He pointed out that China's nuclear industry has made miraculous achievements. Looking ahead, China's nuclear industry will continue to drive technological innovation, providing high-end impetus to economic and social development. Jun Gu's lecture was insightful and thought-provoking, and received enthusiastic applause from the audience.

During the Q&A session, faculty and students engaged in in-depth discussions on the application of neutrons in health fields with Jun Gu.


At the end of the event, Jun Ni and Lifeng Xi awarded Jun Gu a certificate of appreciation and a commemorative gifts, respectively.
The 16th GIFT Distinguished Lecture provided participants with a deeper understanding of the nuclear industry's development trends and future prospects.
