GIFT Successfully Holds 2026 Graduate Summer Camp
The 2026 Graduate Summer Camp of Global Institute of Future Technology was successfully held from July 18 to 19 at Shanghai Jiao Tong University Minhang Campus. The event brought together over 160 outstanding undergraduate students from more than 50 universities across the country, offering them an immersive experience of the university's educational environment and the institute's distinctive academic offerings.
The opening ceremony took place in Lecture Hall of the Yue-Kong Pao Library. Attendees included Dean Ni Jun, Executive Dean Jin Sun, Deputy Party Secretary Han Haibo, Vice Deans Xia Weiliang and Bao Hua, faculty representatives and all camp participants. The ceremony was hosted by Xia Weiliang.
Dean Ni Jun extended his warm greetings to the students. He provided an overview of GIFT's development history, educational philosophy, talent cultivation and research platforms, highlighting its groundbreaking progress and bright prospects in interdisciplinary fields of "Future Energy" and "Future Health". He encouraged students to embrace innovation, break disciplinary barriers and grow into international strategic leaders in science and technology.
Vice Dean Xia Weiliang introduced the arrangement of the summer camp. Over 20 graduate supervisors shared their research areas, achievements and team members, enhancing students' comprehension of prevailing trends and advancements within academic and industrial contexts. Executive Dean Jin Sun, drawing from his own research experience, encouraged students to identify real-world challenges in interdisciplinary fields, and hone their skills through exploration and practice.
Throughout the camp, participants showed their comprehensive abilities and future aspirations, reflecting their academic passion and innovative spirit. Those students experienced the culture and campus life of SJTU while gaining a thorough understanding of GIFT's mission and vision, academic areas, and cultivation models. The Graduate Summer Camp has functioned as a catalyst for the establishment of a forum through which students and faculty nationwide can engage in meaningful discourse. It has engendered renewed impetus for the institute to intensify educational reform, refine talent cultivation strategies, and fortify innovation capabilities.
