"Brain Facts and Future Health" 2025 International Summer School Successfully Concludes
On July 4, the "Brain Facts and Future Health" 2025 International Summer School, hosted by Global Institute of Future Technology, SJTU, officially concluded after two weeks of activities. Attendees of the closing ceremony included Paul Frankland, Academician of Royal Society of Canada, Professor Miou Zhou from Western University of Health Sciences in the U.S., Executive Dean Jin Sun, Vice Dean and program director Xia Weiliang, Professor Li Weidong, faculty members Tomonori Takeuchi, Wang Minqiang, Liu Yang and Lan Zhaohui, along with all summer school participants.
In the morning, students presented their interdisciplinary research findings in brain science and future health through innovative formats, including multimedia demonstrations, experimental data analysis and model construction, thus demonstrating the young scholars' unique perspectives on cutting-edge scientific challenges.
The afternoon featured a poster session where participants engaged in in-depth discussions with experts Paul Frankland and Li Weidong over project design and research methodology, gaining valuable feedback and broadening their research perspectives.
At the closing ceremony, Executive Dean Jin Sun delivered a speech. He warmly welcomed participants from around the world and commended their outstanding performance. Also, he highlighted the program's success in fostering international academic exchange and cultivating future scientific leaders.
International students shared their experiences. Anna Cheng from Canada expressed how interactions with top experts reshaped her understanding of brain science. Giulio Sesini from Italy praised the exposure to cutting-edge research and charm of Chinese culture. Chinese student Liu Zhuo acknowledged the program's role in showcasing SJTU's excellence in brain science and its global academic environment.
Professor Li Weidong reviewed the summer school's highlights, which included expert lectures, clinical observations at Shanghai Sixth People's Hospital and visits to United Imaging Healthcare Co., LTD , providing students with a comprehensive understanding of China's advancements in neuroscience and medical technology.
Certificates were awarded to all participants, and outstanding research groups received additional recognition.
Vice Dean Xia Weiliang concluded the ceremony by applauding the students' academic potential and expressing hopes for their future achievements in the global scientific community.
The summer school successfully brought together talented students worldwide, offering them deep insights into interdisciplinary fields like brain science and health technologies. It not only strengthened their connection with SJTU and Global Institute of Future Technology, but also laid a solid foundation for their future roles as scientific leaders.
