On the morning of June 23rd, the "The Truth of the Brain and Future Health" 2025 International Summer School, organized by the Global Institute of Future Technology at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, officially commenced. The Institute`s dean Ni Jun, an academician of the National Academy of Medicine of the United States and the National Academy of Sciences of Korea Zang Hee Zho; Vice President Xia Weiliang and Professor Li Weidong of the college; Professors Sanbing Shen and Timothy O'Brien from Galway University in Ireland, some summer school research mentors and all the trainees attended the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Li Weidong. Nearly fifty trainees from six countries, including Canada, Italy, Malaysia, Egypt, Pakistan, and China, participated in the program.
Dean Ni Jun delivered a speech, extending a warm welcome to all the students participating in the International Summer School, as well as the guests in attendance. He provided a detailed insight into the GIFT`s educational focus, faculty development, and future plans. Finally, he expressed his hope that the students would enjoy the enriching experiences offered by the "The Truth of the Brain and Future Health" International Summer School in the next two weeks, have in-depth exchanges, broaden their horizons, gain knowledge, and build lasting friendships.
Vice President Xia Weiliang extended a warm welcome to all the students and elaborated on the college's innovative talent cultivation system, the construction of high-level scientific research platforms, and the school-enterprise joint training mechanism, highlighting the college's distinctive advantages in interdisciplinary fields.
Professor Li Weidong provided an in-depth overview of the school's history, the arrangement of its curriculum, and the unique activities planned for this international summer school. Additionally, specific regulations regarding safety and discipline during the summer school period have been established to ensure the smooth progress of the activities during the summer program.
This international summer school will focus on brain science and future health technologies, aiming to comprehensively enhance the scientific research and innovation capabilities of the participants by organizing a series of high-quality lectures, seminars, enterprise practice internships and other diverse activities. The program offers overseas scholars and students a unique opportunity to experience Shanghai Jiao Tong University and China firsthand.
