On May 22, a delegation from Shanghai Jiao Tong University led by Ni Jun, the dean of the Global Institute of Future Technology at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, was invited to visit the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Hong Kong. The delegation was received by David Srolovitz, the dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and his team. Two parties signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Doctoral Student Training and held a bilateral academic symposium.
The signing ceremony was held at the Faculty of Engineering of the Hong Kong University. Dean David Srolovitz delivered a welcoming speech, and Dean Ni Jun introduced GIFT`s strategic positioning, construction of teaching staff, interdisciplinary training system, and spatial planning blueprint. The two parties reached a consensus on talent cultivation and scientific research cooperation. Deans of the two colleges signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Doctoral Student Training, committing to make joint efforts in order to cultivate industry-leading talents with innovative capabilities and an international perspective, marking a new stage in the cooperation between the two colleges.
In the afternoon, the bilateral academic symposium took place successfully, hosted by Lu Yang, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering. GIFT teachers` representatives made a special report on the matter of artificial intelligence and sustainable energy technology. Representatives of teachers from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Hong Kong held an exchange and discussion on advanced materials and new energy applications. After the meeting, both parties had in-depth exchanges and discussions on the joint training program for postgraduate students, the alignment of the curriculum system, and the mechanism for scientific research cooperation.
