On May 28, 2025, the Global Institute of Future Technology at Shanghai Jiao Tong University hosted a laboratory safety work conference and the 2025 Safe Production Month event in Conference Room 200. Ge Tianshu, Secretary of the Party Committee of the College, Han Haibo, Deputy Secretary, Lu Haiying, Director of the Base and Laboratory Management Office, Wang Sen, Deputy Director, and related faculty and staff attended the meeting. The chief of the Fire Protection Division of the Security Department of the University, Mr. Suo Cheng, was invited to attend the meeting and give a report on the topic of safety. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Wang Sen.
Suo Cheng carried out education on the topic of fire safety, covering fire hazard classification and harm, analyzing the fire cases on campus in the past five years, explaining the general knowledge of fire-fighting and the use of fire, extinguishing equipment and the law of fire escape and self-rescue, thus strengthening the campus fire safety defense.
During the meeting, Lu Haiying shared information about the college's laboratory safety management initiatives and provided details from recent safety inspections. Additionally, an update on the construction progress of the new GIFT building was presented, ensuring that everyone is well-informed about the status of the related work.
In her concluding remarks, Ge Tianshu emphasized that security work is a great responsibility that must not be overlooked. She expressed her hope that all teachers will attach great importance to it and strenghten their security awareness.
After the meeting, Ge Tianshu led a team to conduct a safety inspection of the college`s laboratory. The institute will continue to implement the safety responsibility system, and carry out various safety education activities on a regular basis. This approach aims to strengthen the safety management foundation of the campus, ensure a safe research environment for teachers and students, and support the high-quality development of scientific research.
