The rapid changes in scientific and technological advancement, represented by renewable energy, artificial intelligence, and life sciences and human health, are transforming the way people live and the course of social development. The cultivation of scientific and technological leaders who can address global challenges and contribute to future development has become one of the crucial missions of higher education. The Global Institute of Future Technology (GIFT) at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) is pioneering a comprehensive reform to create an innovative education system that transcends the boundaries of traditional disciplines and institutions. The goal is to develop a unique academia-industry collaborative education system to cultivate future academic and industrial leaders with a strategic and global vision. Founded in August 19, 2021, GIFT is under the joint leadership of prominent leaders from both academia and industry. Dr. Robin ZENG, Chairman of Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited, and Academician Guang NING, President of Ruijin Hospital affiliated with SJTU School of Medicine,  serve as the Honorary Deans of GIFT. Professor Jun Ni, Chief Manufacturing Officer of CATL, is appointed as the Dean of GIFT.
