In the afternoon of March 24, 2025, GIFT held the first faculty meeting for spring semester 2025. Dean Jun Ni, Party Secretary Tianshu Ge, Deputy Party Secretary Haibo Han, Associate Deans Jingchuan Wang and Weiliang Xia, and all the faculty members of the Institute participated the event. The meeting was chaired by Tianshu Ge.
Tianshu Ge welcomed new teachers Minqiang Wang and Wuyue Liu, and introduced their research orientations.
Jingchuan Wang introduced the work requirements for undergraduate teaching. He points out that teachers should not only stimulate students' interest in learning in the classroom, but also instruct them on learning methods and guide them to apply their knowledge in practice.
Haiying Lu introduced the progress of the construction of the model laboratory for industry-education integration. He emphasized an optimal allocation of resources and the principle of devices sharing, and planned to set up a complete demonstration laboratory for industry-education integration within this year so that all the teachers can carry out their own experiments.
Weiliang Xia reported on graduate teaching, internationalization, foreign affairs and “4+4+X” medical-engineering cross-undergraduate-doctoral MD+PhD program. He emphasized the importance of optimizing the admission and training process of graduate students and enhancing the international influence of the institute.
Haibo Han introduced regulations and development of the GIFT Future Scholars Program. The introduction included organizational structure, project funding and reward system. It also detailed the evaluation rules in terms of both application and completion, and reviewed the establishment of projects and the results achieved in the first two phases.
Jun Ni made a concluding speech. He pointed out that GIFT Future Scholars Program has built a platform for undergraduates to stimulate their scientific research enthusiasm and enhance their potential for scientific research. He also emphasized the importance of “4+4+X” medical-engineering cross-undergraduate-doctoral MD+PhD program for the talent development, and pointed out that this project is an active exploration of the intersection of cutting-edge disciplines between the GIFT and the School of Medicine. He encouraged all the faculty members to give full play to their professional advantages, make progress together and collectively promote the high quality development of the institute, and make unremitting efforts to cultivate more outstanding talents.
