On March 25, 2025, the academic publishing company Elsevier released its 2024 Highly Cited Chinese Researchers list. A total of 6,388 scholars from 547 universities, enterprises, and research institutions were selected, covering 83 first-level disciplines across 10 academic fields defined by the Ministry of Education. Associate Professor Tong Qin from the Innovation Center of Intelligent Connected Electric Vehicles at Shanghai Jiao Tong University was named to the list in the discipline of Computer Science and Technology.
In September 2023, Qin was appointed as a tenured associate professor at GIFT of SJTU and joined the Innovation Center of Intelligent Connected Electric Vehicles. Since joining, he has demonstrated profound academic expertise and made significant contributions to his field. His high-quality research has been widely recognized and frequently cited in academia, leading to his selection for Elsevier’s 2024 Highly Cited Chinese Researchers list.
Personal Introduction
Tong Qin is a tenured associate professor at GIFT, SJTU. His research interests include perception, localization, and mapping in autonomous driving; end-to-end AI large models; and SLAM in mobile robots. In recent years, he has published over ten high-quality papers as the first or corresponding author in top robotics journals and conferences, including TRO, JFR, RAL, and ICRA. He has received the Best Student Paper Award at IROS 2018 and a Best Paper Nomination at TRO.
