Teachers of GIFT Published New Results of Perovskite Research in Advanced Materials

发布时间:2025-03-07

Recently, Yao Wang, Yanming Wang and Yixin Zhao of the Future Photovoltaics Research Center, GIFT, Shanghai Jiaotong University, published a breakthrough study “A Soft Nonpolar-Soluble Two-Dimensional Perovskite for General Construction of Mixed-Dimensional Heterojunctions” in Advanced Materials, one of the leading international journals in materials science. For the first time, this study reports a soft 2D lead iodide perovskite (TPA₂PbI₄) based on tetraphenyl-ammonium iodide (TPAI) and demonstrates its unique potential for application in perovskite photovoltaics. They found that this material can efficiently construct mixed-dimensional perovskite heterojunctions with controllable thicknesses, thereby suppressing non-radiative composites and facilitating charge carrier transport on all FA-, MA-, and CsPbI3 perovskite solar cells. The strategy is also applicable to scale-up fabrication and has been validated in 30 cm × 30 cm FAPbI₃ perovskite submodules with certified efficiencies up to 22.06%.

The paper proposes a universal and controllable mixed-dimensional heterostructure building strategy by designing nonpolar soluble TPA₂PbI₄. This heterostructure solves the difficulties of solvent destruction and uncontrollable reaction in the traditional method. Not only did the material significantly improve the photovoltaic performance and stability of a variety of perovskite systems, but it is also successfully applied to large-area module fabrication, which provides a new idea for the commercialization of perovskite photovoltaics.

In the future, the research team will further optimize the molecular engineering of TPA₂PbI₄, explore its application potential in flexible devices and laminated cells, and promote the widespread application of green solvent systems in industrialization to help the sustainable development of perovskite photovoltaics。

Introducation of Future Photovoltaics Research Center

GIFT Future Photovoltaics Research Center is dedicated to solving the fundamental problems in the research of perovskite photovoltaic. We strive to achieve high efficiency, high stability, and high reproducibility of perovskite solar cells, which we promote to become a future clean energy technology with wide applicability. Starting from the fundamental scientific principles that underpin the stability and reliability of perovskite, we develop and apply cutting-edge characterization means, advanced simulation theories, artificial intelligence models and cutting-edge manufacturing processes. Our goal is to propose new ideas, methods and processes that lead to creation of highly efficient and stable perovskite solar cells, achieving a breakthrough in the multi-dimensional aspects, including mechanisms, materials, and devices. We warmly welcome talents from home and abroad to work together and promote the innovation and development of future photovoltaics technology.
