Among them, Shanghai Jiao Tong University's GIFT stands out as one of the pioneering Future Technology Institutes in China.Thanks to its unique educational philosophy and innovative training model, it has forged a new paradigm for technological innovation and the cultivation of leading talents.
GIFT has achieved remarkable results in integrating industry and education, as well as in cross-disciplinary talent cultivation. It is dedicated to breaking down the boundaries of learning, disciplines, and schools, to nurture innovative talents who possess visionary and interdisciplinary skills. The Institute focuses on major technological advancements in future energy and health and it is a pioneer in China in offering two cross-disciplinary majors: Sustainable Energy and Health Science and Technology. It has established multiple cutting-edge research platforms, including those for batteries, photovoltaics, energy storage, brain imaging, and health monitoring.
In terms of talent development, the Institute breaks down traditional professional barriers. By integrating industry and education and fusing science and education, It offers intensive, modular, and customized course options, meaning students can choose paths that fit their individual needs. At the same time, GIFT strengthens cooperation with enterprises jointly establishing teaching laboratories, implementing a dual-mentor system, and enabling students to conduct research practices in enterprises.
